We arrived in Cuzco before Machu Picchu and spent the extra day touring the city. After climbing toward the Christo Blanco we met up with a local operating a horseback riding tour. When we returned from Machu Picchu on New Years Eve, we headed to the Plaza de Armas and rocked in the New Year with the locals and a lot of fireworks. We had New Years Day to explore the city a bit more especially Ollantaytambo temple-fortress and Christo Blanco which we missed earlier due to the horseback riding. Also visited Hatunrumiyoc which has the stone of 12 angles and also supposedly shapes several stones to create images of local animals, see if you can figure out where they are.
