Cherry Blossom 10 mile Race

This year I turned 40.  The years are definitely taking their toll on my body.  I trained again this year for the 2 races that I have run the last 2 years.  I trained harder and longer than any previous year.  My body took many injuries as a result; bruises, blisters, muscle strains and joint tenderness.  The Cherry Blossom 10 mile in Washington, DC benefitting the Children’s Hospital was the first race of the year on April 2, 2006.

Race day brought sun and warmth for the first time in three years.  The Cherry Blossoms were out in full bloom.

I was feeling great through 6 miles in under 50 minutes.  Then the blister that had formed on my right toe popped and my left leg tightened up.  I ran the race in 1 hour 24 minutes and 53 seconds, 30 seconds slower than last year.
